At most we could say that Alcesimarchus is trying to apologize and Selenium won't listen. Note that Meae issula sua aedes egent. ad me <sine ducam> ("My house misses its darling. <Let me take you> to my home"), which would provide key information, is a restoration based partly on the available context.31 Yet we can be certain that this interchange represents offers of reconciliation and negative responses to those offers, because an earlier conversation between Alcesimarchus and a slave (here designated as T for tertius, that is, third slave) has mercifully survived (there is a lacuna shortly before it, and two folia missing immediately after):
