Important: The text file to be parsed should not be too long (not more than 62Kb) and should not contain HTML,
mathematical signs and equations, geometrical figures, drawings or images. Proper use of Punctuation Marks is
obligatory. The text file to be parsed must be in ASCII format.

If you don't use the write conversion to ASCII, the program may "hang"
while processing the text!

Follow the installation instructions on disc. Select and open "parser.exe"
to come to the menu.
Once you are on the menu, you have two options: a) either to type in your own sentence,
which you would like to see parsed by the program, or
b) to open a text file and parse it with the program.
In case a) move, using the arrow, to SyntParse on the menu. Press "Enter".
Two windows will be opened. In the upper window, you can type in your own sentence.
When you finish typing, press "Enter". You will see the results displayed in the lower window (Console.out).
Press "Esc" and then press "Enter" - the results in "Console.out" will be deleted and you can type in a new
sentence on top of the old sentence, or if you prefer, you can erase first the old sentence using the keys
Delete and Backspace on the keyboard. If you want to edit the sentence press "Insert" on the keyboard - now
you can edit your sentence. Use the arrows to move left and right. If you want to parse the sentence again,
after editing, press Enter. If you want to quit, press "Esc" and move to "Quit" on the menu, then press "Enter"
and select "Yes", then press "Enter" again. In case b) press "Enter" on the menu "File", then press Enter to
"File - Open" and you will see the Entry window with the files and Directories. To be able to choose a
file (or Directory) press "Enter" once more and then press TAB/arrow. The text file you want to choose for
parsing must have been copied in the same Directory, if you don't want to select it from another Directory.
(Important: the text file must be in ASCII format). Select the file and press "Enter", then press "Enter" again
for OK, then press "Esc" to go out of the menu "File - Open" and move to SyntParse on the menu and press
"Enter". Your file will be parsed now. When the program parses the text file to the end, move to "File - Open"
and select and open the same file(name), but the one with extension *.out. Then press "Esc" and move to
"View" on the menu and press "Enter" - now you can view the output results with Page/Up - Page/Down,
but you cannot edit them. To edit them, use another Word Processor, one which you have on your computer.
To go out of the menu "View" press "Esc" and move the arrow to "Quit". For more details press F1 (Help) for
help in English, German and French.

The text to be parsed should be grammatically correct, meaningful and unambiguous.
The punctuation marks should be used accurately and always where needed.
Note: In order to keep the student on the alert (and the teacher in place!), also to test the student's knowledge
and advancement, SYNTPARSE is programmed to display, occasionally, wrong Parsing for a certain word or
Clause. Therefore, there will be a need of a grammar teacher to supervise the student's homework or classwork
when using this program.
