20-22 Three further pieces by Mesomedes, though now transmitted without musical notes, are accompanied by scholia which state the key of the music. In Heitsch's edition they are poems 4 (Lydian), 5 (Hypolydian), and 7 (Lydian). But the accompanying descriptions of the metres do not altogether accord with the metres of the poems; the scholium on 7, at least, seems to have attached itself to the wrong poem, and the same may be true of that on 4. See Pöhlmann, DAM pp. 28f.
